Patient Support
Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers regarding appointments, referrals, health fund rebates, and clinical care at our Aveley and South Perth locations.
Appointments, Referrals & Rebates
Do I need a GP referral to book an appointment?
No referral is required for private patients. Podiatrists are primary care practitioners, and anyone can book directly online or by calling (08) 6255 8666. If you have a Chronic Disease Management (EPC) plan from your GP or are claiming through DVA, please bring your referral document with you.
Can I claim private health insurance rebates on the spot?
Yes. Both our Aveley Medical Centre and Brecken Health South Perth clinics have electronic HICAPS facilities, enabling you to swipe your private health fund card (such as HBF, Medibank, Bupa, HCF, or NIB) and pay only the remaining gap at the time of your consultation.
Do you accept Medicare EPC / Chronic Disease Management plans?
Yes. We accept GP Chronic Disease Management (formerly EPC) referrals, which provide Medicare rebates for up to 5 allied health consultations per calendar year. Please bring your GP referral paperwork and Medicare card to your visit.
Do you accept DVA and NDIS patients?
Yes. We welcome Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) Gold Card and eligible White Card holders with a valid D904 GP referral, as well as self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants.
Clinical Care & Preparation
What should I wear and bring to my first consultation?
Please bring 2–3 pairs of shoes you wear most frequently (everyday shoes, work boots, or running shoes), any previous orthotics or insoles, any recent X-rays or ultrasound reports, and your health fund or Medicare card. Wearing shorts or loose trousers that roll above the knee helps during biomechanical gait evaluation.
Do I need X-rays or ultrasound scans before my first visit?
No. If you already have previous imaging of your feet, ankles, or knees, please bring the reports along. If new diagnostic imaging (such as an X-ray or ultrasound) is clinically required, Dr Arvind can arrange a referral following your physical examination.
Where are your clinics located and is parking available?
We operate from two medical centres in Perth: Aveley Medical Centre (15 Flecker Promenade, Aveley WA 6069) with free dedicated on-site parking, and Brecken Health South Perth (11 Mends Street, South Perth WA 6151) with convenient street parking and close proximity to the Mends Street Ferry Jetty.
